I have $200 Oakley's, M-frames to be precise. They will stop hits from .22lr, 9x19mm fmj and 00 buckshot at close range. It'll still suck but maybe you won't lose an eye to some flying debris or a ricochet. They also come with lenses that enhance contrast to improve target aquisition.

I never have been too interested in iPods, otoh. Good for what they do, I guess. I'd rather have the sweet potatoes.

I used to be an ascetic but I have learned there is value in comfort, as long as you aren't dependent upon it.

As far as why we should help the sheeple goes, that's up to you. The sheeple aren't really us, I suspect they never have been and never will be. They simply ride on the coattails of others and probably wouldn't exist if they weren't provided for by their betters. That raises the question of whether or not they may be an example of a bad seed, guilty of sloth and gluttony, or a number of other philosophical and spiritual questions, not mention quite a few biological ones.

We both know that...but very few people do,unless you spend lots of time at the shooting range.

My point is psychological brand maddness...you can substitute Gucci loafers or Rolex watches for Oakleys and it means exactly the same thing.

BTW:I own all three of the above...but I can afford it after I bought enough beans,bullets,and bandaids to supply a small army.
They can't afford it...but they buy them anyway for the status,not their utility.

RR, didn't mean to come across like I was calling you out or anything, just dropping some info on some good shooter's glasses in case it helps anybody and praising the delicious yam. I also didn't know you had a son in Afganistan, I'll send some prayers his way.

I know what you mean though, I've always felt people who put too much emphasis on following fashion trends and keeping up appearances are likely making up for something. I guess to me it boils down to being honest with and about yourself, classic questions like who are you and what do you want? I'm still not quite sure what I was trying to do with asceticism.

And for the record, they're very good Fish & Chips-I suspect someone in the family is selling these. While their choice of brochure location is a bit strange, I have to admire their entrepreneurial spirit.
